Stop the Stigma: May Is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Homes By Connect is proud to help raise awareness about the importance of mental health and help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. We know that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we should all seek to nurture our own wellness and the wellness of those in our community.
Anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are just a few of the mental health challenges people face on a daily basis. These challenges can impact a person’s ability to function at work, school or in relationships. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, there are many resources available to help. You can talk to a doctor, therapist, or counselor. There are also many support groups available for people with mental health challenges.
Homes By Connect is proud to be a supporter of Newport Mental Health, a non-profit organization that provides mental health and substance abuse services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in Newport County, Rhode Island. The organization was founded in 1964 and offers a wide range of services, including individual and group therapy, medication management, case management and more.
In the fall, Homes By Connect sponsored one of Newport Mental Health’s key fundraisers, Rock the Mansion, which focused on support for their children’s programs including access to mental health care in homes, schools, offices and in our community. Katy was honored to host a number of Homes By Connect’s top real estate clients at the event to help raise awareness for these important issues that affect so many RI families.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or substance abuse, please talk about it with someone you trust and seek the help you need. If you are in Newport County, don’t hesitate to contact Newport Mental Health. They can help you get the support you need.
