A Mission Born from Tragedy
West Place Animal Sanctuary was founded by Wendy Taylor after a devastating house fire claimed her home and the lives of her nine beloved pets—two dogs, six cats, and a cherished goat named Mo.
In the months that followed, Wendy sought to redefine her life’s purpose. Already a successful litigation attorney and managing partner at her law firm, she began rescuing wildlife. Her mission quickly expanded to farm animals in need of protection and permanent care. Within a few years, she left her law practice to devote herself full-time to West Place.
In her TEDx Newport talk, Service Over Self: Leaving a Sustainable Legacy, she shared, “My worth arose out of tragedy.” Today, West Place stands as a testament to resilience, compassion, and service.
