Katy Donovan Named Newport County’s 2025 Realtor of the Year

Oct 1, 2025 | RI and MA Real Estate Topics

We are thrilled to share some exciting news: our very own broker/owner, Katy Donovan, has been recognized by the Newport County Board of Realtors® as the 2025 Realtor® of the Year

This prestigious honor is awarded annually to a Realtor® who demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and service not only to their clients, but also to their peers, the industry, and the broader community. For anyone who has worked with Katy—or even just had the chance to meet her—this recognition comes as no surprise.

Leading with Integrity and Professionalism

With a background in education and a passion for real estate, Katy has always approached her work with a focus on connection and clear communication. She leads by example, upholding the highest standards of practice and serving as a mentor and resource for both new and experienced Realtors®. At Homes By Connect, her guiding principles—connection, communication, and collaboration—shape everything we do.

At Homes By Connect, Katy’s guiding principles of connection, communication, and collaboration shape everything we do.

Nearly all of our business comes from referrals, a reflection of the trust Katy has built with clients who know she will guide them with care, wisdom, and integrity. Consistent five-star reviews speak to her professionalism and the deep relationships she cultivates along the way.

Dedicated to Strengthening Communities

One of the reasons Katy was selected for this award is her ongoing dedication to community engagement. Through the Connect Cares program, she has built a culture at Homes By Connect that prioritizes giving back and supporting local causes.

Over the years, Katy and the HBC team have proudly supported organizations such as Newport Pride, the Women’s Resource Center, Child & Family, Foster Forward, Potter League, Rhode Island PBS, Newport Mental Health, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and many more. Katy also encourages each agent on her team to choose a nonprofit close to their heart each holiday season, and makes a donation in their name.

Her philosophy is simple: strong communities make strong homes. By supporting local nonprofits, small businesses, and community initiatives, Katy helps strengthen the very neighborhoods where we live and work.

Leadership and Recognition

Katy has been an active member of the Newport County Board of Realtors, serving on the Grievance and Professional Standards Committee and previously as a Board Director. She has also served on the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce board and held leadership roles throughout her career. Her peers recognize her not only for her leadership, but also for her generosity in sharing her time and knowledge with others in the profession.

This recognition follows another 2025 milestone. The Donovan Group at Homes By Connect was honored by Rhode Island Monthly for Professional Excellence in Real Estate.

In Katy’s Words

Reflecting on being named 2025 NCBR® Realtor of the Year, Katy shared:

“This recognition is such an honor, but it’s really a reflection of the people I get to work with every day. To my clients, my colleagues, and this incredible community—thank you for your trust, support, and partnership. I truly love what I do, and I’m so grateful to be able to do it here at home in Newport County.”
